Dr. Popham began the private practice of ophthalmic plastic and reconstructive surgery in Denver after completing his fellowship training at Harvard Medical School in Boston. Prior to his advanced training in oculoplastic surgery at Harvard Medical School, Dr. Popham completed residency training in the microsurgical techniques of ophthalmic and intraocular surgery at Texas A&M University Medical School.
Dr. Popham is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is also a member of the American Society of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and has served for over a decade as the Chairman of the Department of Ophthalmology at the largest hospital in Colorado.
He teaches ophthalmic plastic surgery to physicians in training and has academic appointments as assistant clinical professor of ophthalmology and clinical instructor in otolaryngology at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center in Denver.
Dr. Popham has written numerous scientific articles published in medical journals and has written several book chapters related to oculoplastic surgery. He recently co-authored the primary book used as a reference by physicians in training worldwide, Ophthalmic Plastic, Orbital, and Lacrimal Surgery, published by the American Academy of Ophthalmology. He has lectured nationally and internationally on topics related to cosmetic and reconstructive oculoplastic surgery.
