Good quality of work, communication could have been better

I was referred to Mattocks Brothers when I need a new front bumper on my car. I liked that they were a certified Saturn repair center and a friend had said they were good. I was given an estimate and told the repairs would take 2-3 days. At the end of the second day I called and they said someone would have to call me back because they found hidden damage not in the original estimate. I told them to make sure someone called me before they started the work, but the next day I still had not heard anything. I had to call back and found out that they had already ordered more parts without consulting me, and was not given any time frame in which the work would be done. On the 5th day I still did not know the status of my car until the late afternoon when they called to tell me it was done. When I got my car back, the new bumper looked really good and the car was immaculately clean. They definitely did a good job on the body work, but when you are without a car for a week and are trying to plan your life around it some better communication would have been nice. I would recommend their work but just a warning that you will most likely have to call them for updates and plan on being without a car for a few days extra than they tell you, just to be safe. If we had known it would be 5 days in the shop, I would have rented a car.
