GREET ME! GREET ME! LOVE ME!

I just want to know who out there really feels offended if the clerk at the store doesn't smile and say hi to you? Get a dog.

It's okay.

What can I say, it's an art store. People always rave that the prices are way lower than Meininger's, but (at least on things I need -- drawing papers, charcoal, drawing/ink stuff, I don't paint) the prices are not THAT much lower. I've been here twice in the last 3-4 months and both times I felt the prices and selection were adequate (Meininger's kills it for selection but is expensive), but the customer service was terrible. I had to wait around for 5 minutes at the register just to ask a question, and later another few minutes to be rung up, and both times there were only two or three other customers in the store at the time, but at least three staff. WTF. Maybe this is why the place is never busy and Meininger's is crawling with people. (Okay and Meininger's is on Broadway, but still.)

Cheaper then Minengers (who can even spell that?)

I am a student downtown and have been going to Guiry's for a while now. They are way cheaper than anywhere else near by. The customer service can be hard to come by, but if you do find someone they will devote their attention to you. I love this place.

A lot better than Michael's...

I usually go to Michael's but I was downtown for the game, so I stopped in on my way home. I found everyone to be very friendly. The guy in the paints helped me find the paint colors I wanted and the girl in the art supply was exceptionally helpful. The only complaint I had was the lady on her cell phone who's kid kept screaming and parking was a bit tough. I'll go back in the future but maybe at a more convenient location.

What is the deal with this place?

Ditto the last review: have never had anyone ask me if I needed help, and when I do go to the check-out counter, I usually have to wait a minute or two before workers either notice me or end their conversation to help me. I work very near there, otherwise I would never go back. And today, yet another example of the total oddness of this place: I had gone back to purchase something that I had noticed last week. On Thursday, the red sticker on discounted items meant 75% off. Today, it somehow only meant 25%.
