Bad Food & Worse Service

Posted bypreludewhon 7/13/2004

I would avoid going to this place at all costs. They are doing very poorly in business and as a result have jacked up the prices and lowered the quality & quantity of the food. They are rude, disrespectful, and down right insulting towards their customers. I hope that very soon they go out of business.

Sushi is poor

The sushi is ordinary and over-priced considering that the portions were much smaller than other near-by sushi places. The rolls were poorly made and appeared sloppy.

Don't judge a book by its cover

I've been to most of the worthwhile sushi bars in town, and dozens across the country. If you're looking for sushi, and not a place to be seen, there is no better place in Denver - bar none. While many sushi bars try to pass of masago (smelt roe) as tobiko (flying fish roe) and expect gaijins (us round eyes) to acquiesce with no comment, Fujiyama surprised me FOUR VARIETIES of tobiko. This is my litmus test which separates the contenders/pretenders. The sushi chefs were wonderful, creative, forthcoming, and fun. In addition, this place offers fine Korean food, which the sushi chefs were glad to offer samples (just bribe them with a little Sapporo/sake), and the traditional one-upsmanship offer seen in sushi bars across the country takes full sail. I'm looking forward to my next visit soon! Kudos on a great restaurant, albeit in a comely DTC setting.
