Will NOT Ever Go Back

Posted byBarnabas666on 6/7/2009

Have been there twice-both times ignored while others were served after I had come in. I believe it was because I am not a raving Queen or 22 and slim. Tall blonde bartender 50 ish observed me standing in the "wait service area" for several minutes carried on a conversation with a patron, walked past me twice, never acknowledged me, serviced two other gentleman, went back to his original conversation poured two or three more drinks for patrons on the opposite end gave me the once over, walked past before I finally got fed up and left. Try Moe's at 10th & Broadway for excellent friendly service. They don't care if you're not 22 and 160 lbs. Compound can take lessons from them in regards to customer service.

DIVERSE OF PEOPLE

Posted bybedroomeyes13on 5/8/2009

I haven't been there since they change the bar. Just went recently and a GREAT time. There's all type of people. Men, women, straight, gay, young, old, and all races. Everyone has a good time. Dancing starts at 9pm and the music is great to dance. The dance floor gets packed and you meet all type of people. People are very friendly. I went on a Friday all evening and great time. The dance floor was packed. Want a good time in Denver, go to the Pound.

Doesn't do the Basix

Hope the remodel does something, but when a bar cuts off its nose to spite its face with things like NOT TAKING CREDIT CARDS (evidently they had a problem 15 years ago with them and won't ever take them) I'd advise going elsewhere. The owners are either rich or just don't care, because I've heard NUMEROUS complaints about that one issue, and they don't want to hear the customer. They have the most expensive call drinks in town (9.25 for a Jager bomb? Are you high?) They force you to buy the can of Red energy drink when you want a splash, their pool table is the most expensive in town, their Megatouch game gives you 3 credits for a buck (everywhere else is 4). The energy and life of the late 80s and 90s in this place is kaput. Remember the fun, crazy bartenders they had in the day? They're gone. Grumpy and tired best describes the mix now. Sunday nights are still fairly busy, but the rest of the week--pretty tired. I'm sad for the place cuz it used to be my favorite. But dissappointed is all I am now.

Best music, drinks, always a great time.

If you have only one night in Denver, this is the place to go....it's the most comfortable place in Denver. You can count on always meeting new and friendly faces, have a great laugh with the bartenders and have the time of your life on the dance floor - the energy DJ Zac creates on Sat and Sun nights is almost religious! While I like many other bars in town, this is the only one you can really count on when all the others seem to fail, so if you don't make Compound your first stop and realize you made a mistake, make it your second and last stop of the night. As for out-of-towners...this is the place I take all my friends (from NY, Chicago, Miami, LA, even London) all of us have been to hundreds of gay places around the world, this is hands-down the Denver favorite! Yeow!

Love the Pound

Yeah Love the Pound. This is the most diverse bar intown. With Chris and Brian behind the bar you are certain to get the best drinks in town. No attitude and all fun I give this bar a thumbs up
