Funny Business

This place is great! I have been numerous time, and the company that I work for is even considering having our holiday party there! I have been to about three shows downtown, and just recently went to one at their Landmark location. The vibe is totally different at each club, but they are equally as impressive and entertaining. The South location is opening a new restaurant, and I hear that it is supposed to be really something. I cant wait to check it out:) This is the best place for comedy anywhere in Denver, and it is obvious that the comics love to perform at these venues!

Good Food, Funny Shows, But Lousy Seats

The food was awesome, the drinks were good and the comedians were hilarious at least on the nights we went. The only thing I really hated was the spacing between the seats and the uncomfortable nature of the seats themselves. I'm a skinny lil gal myself and just having an average sized guy and average sized girl next to me made me feel clostrophobic due to the extremely packed nature of their seating. The first time we went I was utterly disapointed that the seating arrangements weren't set up as actual tables or booths but rather like ultra cheap movie seats (not the cool big ones they have these days) or worse yet school auditorium seating. After seeing comedy venues on TV in shows like Seinfeld and Family guy, as well as in reviews and magazines always looking more like a lounge setting with round tables, I was extremely disapointed in the seating arrangements, but that was my only complaint.

The reason you see that nearly all the reviews are either one star or five stars has to be because the staff is trying to counteract the customers, I think. Very very disappointing night. I expect a night out at a venue like this to be a little overpriced, but this was absurd. The two drink minimum didn't deter me at first but when I saw the drink prices for even watery bottom of the barrel domestics I was shocked. Still, ticket prices weren't terrible, so I settled in to enjoy the show but couldn't due to near constant harassment by our extremely rude waitress who was clearly used to people trying to get out of the drink minimum because she was defensive and insulting from the first conversation. We missed a good portion of the show just trying to get her to wait until we finished our first round before ordering our second. Management repeatedly was seen and heard hassling or pulling out crowd members near us who, as far as we could figure out, were simply enjoying the show or trying to climb out to go to the bathroom. Weird. I signed up for this site just to publish a review for this venue, so what does that tell you? Much better venues around town exist, don't waste your money or more importantly, your time.

You Guys Are CRAZY!

Reading some of these past reviews makes me think that no one is out to have a good time! I recently went to Comedy Works with my boyfriend and was very pleased by everything. We took the light rail down, so we didn't have to pay for parking and could enjoy ourselves without the worry. If you get drinks any where they are not going to be less than a dollar, I thought they were very reasonably priced. I liked the dark and intimate setting of the show, and the closeness allowed me to snuggle with my bf and/or meet some new people (however you want to look at it)!! Our wait staff was very attentive, and everyone was happy, laughing and having an all around good time. I found it more rewarding to spend $50 for two people with 4 drinks to see a great live comedian, than going to a movie and not having half the thrill...

Comedy King in Denver

As a comedy fan who has recently moved to Denver, I can assure those who have not been to Comedy Works that they are in for a treat. The quality of comedy is second to none. I've seen Doug Benson, Tom Pappa, & David Alan Grier just to name a few comedians over the last year. The Larimer Square showroom is intimate and one is only feet away from the comedian. If you need a good laugh, Comedy Works is the place to go.
