Good Sushi & Drink Specials

My wife and I frequent this place often and refer to it as "Ihop sushi" because the restaurant looks ike it was an old Ihop. But don't let that fool you, this pace offers some very good sushi with a wide variety of creative special rolls at a decent price. They also always seem to be offering some 2 for 1 beer or sake special. So if your looking for good sushi, don't want to worry about a wait and aren't tring to impress anyone with a fancy atmosphere then this place is for you.

I have been to many Sushi restautants in Denver and around the US etc... and I must say that this is one of the best. You feel right at home in your jeans, shorts or whatever...service is always the same, excellent! They recognize me when I come in and always are curtious and prompt. Plus they have delivery with the same promptness and courtesy... the food is fresh and hot... I do not need the trendy or fancy, I want the authentic, fresh and comfortable atmosphere...high prices do not make it any better...trust me!These guys also have a happy hour to go to Sushi heaven for...$1.00 per pc of Sushi!! Wine is two for 1 certain brand ofcourse, but good!

Not at all a Sushi expert, been a while since I've been to a Sishi bar/restaurant. It was my birthday, and figured I'd try something new. I thought the food was good, Our waitress was really fantastic, she walked us through everything and helped us order. Thought it was a nice enough place. I think if I was looking for something fancy the place might not have worked, but for a relaxed time, good food, more than reasonable price, and overall good experience, this place was perfect.

Blue Moon is great. The service is always friendly, professional, and timely - I have never had a poor experience like some previous reviewers talk about. I believe they have all-day happy hour for nigiri ($1/piece), and their rolls are usually either cheap or average price. They may not have quite the variety of fish or special rolls that somewhere like Sushi Den or Hapa does, but they have very fresh, high-quality fish (buttery salmon and tuna, NO strings or chewy pieces!) and their sushi chefs are skilled at what they do. The outside may look like an IHOP, but the interior decor is pretty decent, just your typical sushi bar setup with a few tables and Japanese tapestries. If you want somewhere fancy then sure, go ahead and spend >$100 at Sushi Den for only two people; but if you just want to have a casual dinner and eat some good sushi for half the price, go to Blue Moon!

Another review below said if you point and clearly mark your sheet, you will get what you ordered. That was not my experience on more than 20 occasions. I wrote out exactly what I wanted in clear, bold print, ask for it outloud, and point at it on the sheet. I still rarely get the appetizers I ordered, and they don't really seem to care. One time I ordered one thing, got something totally different that didn't even sound similar that I would never order...and the snotty little waitress acted like I had drowned her kitten. She wouldn't even wait our table after that, and would ask another server to do it. I've had them come take my mostly full drink to refill it, then never bring it back...ask 5 times for them to bring it back and all 5 times they forget. I went an entire meal without a drink. They never say sorry, they just talk about you in mandarin. Another fun time was waiting 15 minutes for someone to take my order, because the entire wait staff was ordering from a chinese place together. They practically flaunt their laziness in front of you. That said, the sushi is cheap, the tempura is how tempura should be most of the time (lightly battered, not dipped in wads of giant pancake-like batter like most places), etc. Update - 7-24-7, above this point is a few months old. The service has improved a lot recently. The people are friendly and seem to care that you get what you ordered in a timely manner. Last time we waited a while for our drinks and service because there was one girl waiting the entire restaurant, but she was going as fast as she could and did amazingly well considering. Upped the rating to recommended based on the value and improved service.
