Great Artists, Awful Staff

Posted byjb2393on 11/21/2009

I recently went to a performance with a group of friends. My identification was taken from me buy one of the many pathetic excuses of the Blue Bird staff. I was forced to call 911 to have Denver police collect my license for me. Once this 30 minutes had passed, I offered my license and ticket to the bouncer again. He then told me that I was not getting in and offered absolutely no reason why. I encourage anyone who has dealt with absurd treatment by bouncers and staff at Blue Bird (and elsewhere) to take the few minutes necessary to help potential employers identify poor behavior. The bouncer at Blue Bird who treated my friends and I so poorly goes by the name DumpTruck. He has blue hair and a raspy voice. This man created a horrible first time impression for me, 6 other people, and I hope many people in the crowd.

Bluebird....better off to stay at home with headphones.....

I was kicked out of a show for "being wasted" - funny - wasn't wasted...just dancing like a deadhead....guess if I danced like the other white guys with a gentle head bob they would have allowed me to stay.....as a bartender I know wasted......the sound left much to be desired, the drinks watered down, the service was catered to the friends of the staff....love music, but not here. Highly recomend saving your money, buy the album, don't contribute to their profits....much better places in Denver to throw down for a night. SAVE YOUR TIME AND MONEY.....

Segregate the audience?

As a music lover, i have attended many a show here in beautiful Denver, and the Bluebird is by far the worst venue i have ever been to. The Bluebird has an ill-posted rule that anyone under the age of 21 cannot be on the floor, near the stage. Underaged members of the crowd are required to stay in the balcony, 100 feet from the stage. What this means: Anyone who is under 21 has a ticket that is worth much less and is in for a sub-par show. I feel much of my anger was due to the fact that I paid the same amount as all other patrons, yet my place in the venue wasn't even worth half of the ticket price. The balcony is very small, very cramped, and the sound from this area is absolutely atrocious. Now, upon the start of the particular show I was attending, some friends and myself attempted to go down to the floor, unknowingly breaking this rule. Upon the arrival to the floor, my friends and I were treated horribly by the staff members, were threatened with violence and were forcably sent back upstairs to the balcony. As a music lover, one should be able to enjoy the music from anywhere one pleases, and should not be segregated by age. If they do not want younger audience members on the floor, the Bluebird management should retool their establishments age requirements for shows, or at least offer cheaper tickets for the balcony. Almost all other successful venues in the Denver area, such as the Fillmore, Gothic, etc, allow mixed crowds. Please, if you are under the age of 21 or enjoy music more than the bar, I am urging you to never attend the Bluebird. The employees are rude, violent, use brutal tactics, and use their athourity in an ridiculous manor to control the younger audience members. No show is enjoyable at a venue such as this, and my friends and I will never attend another show at the Bluebird theater. I highly encourage you to do the same.

BB sucks

The BB's sound system needs to be updated. I've been a couple of times and between the audience's talking, noise from the bar, and poor sound system couldn't hear the band well at all.

Singin the tunes at the Bluebird...

The Bluebird is just one of those splendid old theaters converted into an amazing showplace. I agree that parking is scarce and it doesn't help that they don't offer any sort of alternative but hey, it's worth it. Great venue, great bartenders and great acoustics. I especially like the tiered viewing areas so some of the shorter people can see also(the people I usually go with). If there is a show you want to see, go to it!
