Denver's Best Furniture Stores
Fabulous Furniture A Stone's Throw Away
Whether you're budget-conscious or financially unrestrained, sometimes the hardest part of decorating is finding furniture that you want to live with. There are plenty of furniture stores to choose from, running the gambit from cheap and functional to expensive and ornate. Here are some of our city's best shops to check out what's new, what's fashionable and what's simply a great deal.
1. Cost Plus World Market
For that extra touch that will turn any room from commonplace to unique, check out the furniture at Cost Plus World Market. While not a dedicated furniture store, as many aisles are dedicated to strange treats, dishes and other items, the tables, rugs, chairs and lamps are all tasteful but unusual. Most of the furniture reflects foreign styles and traditions, meaning you probably won't find generic pieces but you will find exotic-looking items to fit in every room. Cost Plus World Market is a national chain, but something about the imported items for sale makes it feel like a one-of-a-kind store.
2. The Livable Home
Perfect for the city where dogs are so popular and well loved, The Livable Home has furniture that is both stylish and pet-friendly. The sofas, chairs, headboards and more are all made using fabrics that are durable, dirt-resistant and often odor-resistant. Whether you have young kids or pets, these pieces will hold up to their rough play far better than your average furniture. Other things for sale at the LoHi shop include art, lamps, pet beds and doggie dishes to round out the look of your home and to make it clear that your pet is as much a part of the family as anyone.
3. Mod Livin'
Not a store for the shallow of pocket, Mod Livin' has great, weird pieces that hearken back to the various styles and fads of the mid-20th century. Most of these are reproductions of pieces long out of fashion, old enough to be seen as fun, funky and retro again. There are pieces look as though they were pulled straight out of the Jetsons or Sleeper, pieces that recreate those of top designers of the past and even modern takes on popular past designs. If you're on a budget, the Park Hill store's basement has some used pieces that are available for very fair prices, but you'll still find yourself wishing for the extra room in your budget to buy that really cool chair on display.
4. Lee Alex Decor
Mid-century modern furniture and accessories, primarily those made from the 1950s through the 1970s, are the main trade of Lee Alex Decor. Like with any vintage or antique store, the selection is hit or miss depending on both your tastes and what's currently in stock. As many items are the only one of their kind in the shop, you've got to act quickly on anything you fall in love with or it might just end up in someone else's home. Located in SoBo, the store definitely fits the mishmash feel of the whole area where just a few shops up or down the street you can find used books, new clothing, baby toys and more.
5. Room & Board
High quality furniture and prices to match are the rule at Cherry Creek's Room & Board. Like the neighborhood, the store is modern, upscale and inviting, though just because you can walk in doesn't mean you can afford everything inside. This is not the furniture store you visit right out of college but instead when you're upgrading from those first particleboard items to real wood furniture. Styles are sleek and modern, with enough selection to ensure you'll find something to fit your tastes.
