Rocky Mountain National Park encompasses over 265,000 acres of diverse landscape including grasslands, lakes, alpine terrain and glaciers. The park is a paradise for hikers with more than 350 miles of trails that include the popular Bear Lake trail, which showcases the park's natural beauty. When not impeded by snow, visitors can travel on the highest paved continuous highway, Trail Ridge Road, which offers spectacular views of the Continental Divide. Other activities enjoyed throughout the park are horseback riding, fishing, rock climbing and camping. The park can be accessed from Estes Park or Grand Lake; both towns offer a variety of restaurants and overnight accommodations for travelers.
