Recently having completed its major 2006 expansion, the Denver Art Museum's newest building was designed by renown architect Daniel Libeskind to resemble the Rocky Mountains and the geometric rock formations found in the area. The museum not only has a large collection of Renaissance and 19th century paintings, but also has a comprehensive collection of African art, American Indian artifacts spanning 2,000 years, modern and contemporary pieces and Spanish Colonial works. The museum is located south of the Civic Center Park, adjacent to the Denver Public Library.

I love this museum, especially on the free days, which is the first Saturday of the month, I think. The sleeping lady is completely amazing!

One of my favorite places in the city; there's so much to see here, and no way to do it in just one day! The museum always offers the best temporary exhibits too.
