Towering 300-foot-high red sandstone boulders form an open-air music venue known as Red Rocks Park and Amphitheater. The location's near-perfect acoustics draw a variety of top-tier concerts, movies and events to the venue, owned and operated by the city of Denver. Other features at the site include a short, challenging hiking trail and a historically-focused regional visitors center. Located 15 miles west of downtown Denver in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, the site is close to Dinosaur Ridge in Morrison, a showcase of fossils, tracks and bones from the prehistoric creatures.
